Get one DI unit and one SI unit ...... Then you have the best of both.

If you are only going to get 1, I'd get the SI first because it is far superior for searching.

Hey fellas ! Great info. I've ordered the 10 helix si after seeing mrdux pics made me a believer. But do you have to get another transducer for high speed running ?

The HDSI xducer can get high speed depth readings ...but it is a challenge to get the xducer mounted low enough to get clean bubble free water flowing across the face of the xducer ...

Some opt for the added 2d xducer (and the AS SIDB Y cable) because it's easier to mount in a spot to get high speed depth readings ...

This can be a shoot thru XP 9 20 epoxied in the hull of a fiberglass boat ...
Or the XNT 9 20 transom mount 2d xducer ...

    Correct ...

The dedicated DI units will most always render a better DI image simply because the dedicated DI piezo is pointing straight down ...

The "DI from SI" units computer generate the SI data to "look like" a DI image ...therefore the "DI from SI" data is coming from piezoes that are pointed out to the side ...

I had pretty much decided to go with the SI unit-but after looking at my boat transom I,m not sure I have enough clearance between the transom and motor for it to work. My transom is straight down with no offsets. Any thoughts.

I use SI more than DI. SI to me is more important than DI for being able to see more of what's around, but once you find something dedicated DI would be nice to get a better view of it.
