Just my opinion from just having ran my Helix 10 and my 1199 a few hours but there is a distinct difference in the clarity and brightness of the Helix over the 1199. The difference in the DI is unbelievable. Since I consider myself a dinosaur when it comes to electronics, I was afraid the Helix operating system and keypad would be so different from the 998/898 I was used to, I would have to re-learn it. No such worry.

Is the DI dedicated or derived from the SI beams? They do look great, and I remember how clear the screen was on my first helix although tiny. So that clarity carries over to the larger screen with no loss of quality?

Rickie would be a better source of info but I think the Helix 10 has the dedicated DI transducer. I know I sure am happy with it.

Thanks for the reply. Im gonna guess that it is the same as the other units, the DI unit has the dedicated transducer but the unit with side imaging gets its DI picture from the SI beam.

I'm not trying to sell anything since I recently bought the Helix and 1199. In my opinion the DI on the Helix 10 is much better, brighter, cleaner than the DI on the 1199. As far as some kind of statistical comparison, I have no idea.

I've got several hours experience, with both ,si from di and dedicated di.I'm not impressed with di from si.Bottom composition along with structure density makes di from si vary ,and makes it unreliable.

Ok thanks. I hardly use the DI on my 899 and was really impressed by mrduxs down images of the stump. I find it usable on my unit but its not sharp at all and very flat. Like a zoomed in and straightened piece of what you see in side imaging at the top 5th of the screen. It works and is better than not having it but its not great thats for sure.

I've turned the 998 transducer, were one of the si piezo's
Were facing straight down and got some very good results. Some images rival my di imagesfrom my onix
