Thread: HELIX 5 SONAR GPS

I have the Helix 5 with just 2D and GPS running off the I-Pilot transducer. Also an HDS 7 with SI and DI. I am like Gene in wondering how you knew there were fish it was not showing?? They can be laying right on the bottom and just show up as a thicker line on the bottom or there may not be any fish to show up. I go over a lot of water that I swear I am in a swimming pool it is so devoid of fish. And like yesterday we saw schools so thick it tricked the DF into thinking that was the bottom.
It does not tell you what kind of fish you are seeing and that comes with experience, though he best way to tell is to catch one then you know what you are seeing.
