Larto can be a great lake. I love fishing that lake. If it is too windy, you can fish the bayous and if it is calm you can fish the lake. Seems like the bigger fish come out of the lake, but there are some big ones in the bayous too. We are going to have a get together up there New Year's weekend, come join us if you can.
Darbonne is also a great lake to fish in the fall/winter.

Just noticed you said the second week in November, that is the weekend that we are having our annual Darbonne gathering, if you can make that, I promise you won't be dissappointed!

I will piggy back what shadow said. Not sure what part of the state you are in, but there will be a BUNCH of us at Darbonne from the 12-15 November. We eat like kings, tell waaaaaaaaaaayyy too many tall tales and fish a bunch too. Check out the sticky threads at the top of this page. Lots of info on our fall gathering. We would love for you and your friend to join us over there!! Holler if you need more info.

The best spots in fall and winter are the ones closest to the ramp.
Long rides and cold weather...well, its cold.
