Default Tired of learning from my mistakes

The other morning I wanted to get out early an try an pull crank baits and changed my old trolling motor battery out with a new one. You guessed it, in the dark I managed to hook it up backwards and had no trolling motor or depth finder. This morning I put a meter on them an looks like my Humminbird 160 and Minn Kota Power drive are toast. After putting a meter on the control board assemble it looks like powers going in but not out. That little thing's $150.00 plus shipping! Any advice? Please don't charge me for advice

Break out some of your kid's inheritance and get you a Terrova I-pilot and HB GPS/Down Image unit AND A FLASHLIGHT. I'm hearing good things about the Helix.

Your luck sounds like mine, Russ. I learned some time back to take a can of red spray paint and liberally paint the positive end of my batteries as soon as I buy them. I had too many snow goose electronic call boxes go up in smoke when folks hooked the polarities up backwards.

My wife just came in from work and I told her what I'd done and she asked how much to fix the trolling motor. I told her around $150.00 and that the depth finder was fried also. She then asked, Isn't there an app you can put on your phone for a depth finder? Bless her heart

If you continue to pull crankbaits This may be your cheapest expense of pulling cranks.

Now we know Dux only wants to transform all stake beds into Christmas trees decorated with pretty colored cranks.

You guys have to keep bringing that up? I fished with Buffalo13 this AM, using his tackle and baits, and never lost as much as a jig. Must be something about that camo Horizon?

Russ, did you find that phone app or go in a different direction?

Gonna try the Helix 5 Di Sonar/GPS, couldn't find an app for it though. Its gotta be a new product for Hummingbird. Seems nobody has seen it operate except for the ones in the stores. I went to Cabelas and they only had the demo but had them on order. Checked at BBG Marine and they were a little less but think I'll just wait till Cabelas get their order filled. While waiting I can mow a few yards and trim some hedges to get my happy place back on the water again. Do we have an electronics goo roo listening in? Would an in-line fuseable link have kept this from happening (reverse polarity) and damaging both units? Its not a power surge so not sure it would have helped.

Friends of mine installed one. Didn't get much experience with it, but it looks like it works like my 898si HD.

I saw one of the Helix units that a customer had. Nice little unit for the money.

Reverse polarity should not have fried that bird. Something else going on there I think.
