Default The kinda day ya dream of :)

On Wednesday BadBrad and I got to go out and fish Lake Malone, not a lake that I consider chocked full of crappie but wanted to see some modern day electronics in action. We got there around 6:00, 6:30 and got schooled for a half hour on down image, sonar, and maps. We then made a short run (at the speed Brad was runnin, I held onto my hearing aids) we made it to an area that held 12'-15' an in the amount of time it takes to fillet a slab, I had one on. The best day I ever had pullin them cranks. Mostly sunny, high was about 80, light winds, a little overcast, and a light breeze. I doubt we had a twenty minute period without a fish and several times with multiple fish.Itwas a Great day, an thanks Buffalo13 for those cranks. We kept switching them out so as not to bore the fish and have them shut down. I'd told Brad how I'd just ordered some C55s and look what came in the mail today! These came from China in less than a week for buck for shipping. I ordered something from St Louis and it took ten days and $9.95 to ship. Go figure? Anyway gave the mailman a hug, he looked at me sorta funny.Name: pullin cranks.jpg

Way to go guys. Russ, I told you your day would come with the crankbait bite.

Word of warning on those factory baits, most of them I've seen have really bad hooks on them. They package them nice but haven't found them to be up to par as far as sharp or holding up.

Brad has spoken highly of the treble that has one hook that is larger than the other two, thinkin I'll try them. Can't say enough about spending the day with the Wayne Wayne Gretzky of crappie fishing. Lesson of the day, never wear band-aids when using crank baits.

Now that's weird ... Cabella's has them listed on their website, as VMC Inline & VMC Sureset treble hooks :

If this is the hook you're talking about :

Russ, Gander had them but your right, they ain't cheap. 3.99 for a pack of four. Pretty sure I used size 4. They do really help with the hook up ratio. And your right about the band aids. Lol. Dang trebles snagged in them every time!!
