    Default Dead around here?

Looks like there's not much going on or everybody has lock-jaw. My last 3 trips have humbled me greatly. The lack of current is killing the crankbait bite but has forced me to check out lots of new waters I have been looking at on the maps. 10 miles of secondary channels on Barkley Sunday produced zero crappie but a bunch of new waypoints that will be checked out again as soon as the powers that be decide to start releasing normal amounts of water into the rivers again.

On a brighter note, the down time is allowing me to get a bunch of crankbaits painted for Wiskers so he can lose them all during the next spell home. He ran up on the deal of a lifetime on 100+ cranks that we all dream of and we both are benefiting from his good fortune.

I've been looking long and hard at my night fishing gear that has sat in my garage for several years. I made up a pair of 30" green LED submersible lights a couple of years ago and they are still as dry as the day I built them. If the rivers stay high, I may have to drop back to my younger days and break out some shiners and the night gear.

    Tight lines to all.

Fished a few hours Sunday, only caught a couple of crappie, my niece caught one that was 15 inches long. After reading the report on Barkley thought might as well try, turned out to be very slow for us.

I finished doing a temporary install on my new Helix 5 yesterday and was hoping to take it out this morning before the rain which was forecast for late afternoon - but awoke to steady rain. Phooey.

The Green River Lake gang have been catching fish, just not saying much about it on here.

I've been rained out on my last two planned trips, so my buddies and I have had nothing to report.

Probably won't have anything to report for awhile, either .... as I'm not going anywhere near the lakes during the upcoming holiday weekend. Thunderstorms, lightning, alcohol, fireworks, and the non-fishing masses of people that will be on the waterways do not make for a pleasant or successful fishing adventure IMHO.

Come on, Pappy. Don't you enjoy being on KY Lake on a holiday weekend where the tri-toon count is above a dozen per minute if you are in stationary spot?

The 100mph cigarette boats and 50 foot cruisers make it all the more exciting. Gotta love those 8 foot rollers.

Heck no, man ... it's bad enough to have to wait for 12-15 yahoos to launch their wave makers, before you can get your boat in the water, all the while knowing that those same yahoos are going to be exhibiting their ignorance RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, no matter where on the lake you go .... and that's on lakes that are much smaller, and more narrow, than the West Ky Twins.
