Another thing MDWF needs to raise license fees for residents and nonresident to pay for more GWs. In TN now my license for the year for a sportsman goes to $160 a year. That's what a resident pays. I get my nonresident fish in MS for $55 then in the fall I get my small game and duck for $100. It's cheaper for me to fish and hunt in MS than in TN. Dad gets his resident Sportsman for somewhere around $25-30 , that's not enough guys. MDWF needs to get in line with TWRA license fees. Got to be able to pay for the needed enforcement. TN resident fish and small game is going to $35 That's more than MS sportsman license.

If they doubled the fees they'd just waste the money on something else. They seem to have plenty of help on Holidays, and during the spawn when most of the out of staters are making them money in minor violations. They seem to only be concerned about the fishing when it's the most profitable for them.

Maybe we would get lucky and get docks at all the Big 4 major ramps with some of the extra money. Higher fees might detour some of the Tourism Dollars the fishing and hunting generates tho. It's a "danged if ya do, and danged if ya don't" kinda deal.

Like Bird Down said, "Just need to keep fishing, and have fun".

Exactly!!!! Can't see anything being done with the money I spend now. Make the ramps safer at the very least.

the extra money from license fees would go to the state......The lakes ( big 4 ) and surrounding land belongs to COE.....the state does not even own the state parks on them.....they are leased from COE. Yep....its Federal property. Just enjoy what we got and go fishing.

I would like to see folks in Jackson treat "outdoor recreation " as a State resource , not a burden .JMO.
Our Republican legislators in Jackson treat our teachers and public education as a burden. What makes anyone think they give two rips about our outdoor resources?!?!

Maybe that's where TN and MS differ. The way I understand in TN , TWRA is solely funded by license fees, fines, ect. No tax dollars or at least very little. MS is opposite, tax funded. Fees and fines go into general funds?

Democrats over the last 50 years didn't seem to do any better did they?

No, but all those Democrats are now Republicans. And frankly, it's a moot point which letter is behind their name. The only thing that matters is their voting record.

We've been keeping fish over 12" all along. They must mean we can keep a short fish.
