    Default Poke weeds

How many been out hunting Poke Sallet ? Mother always boiled up fresh greens in the spring.
Too windy and cold for comfortable fishing so I been gathering up a mess. I love the stuff with pepper sauce and bacon grease . Not a fan scrambled with eggs.

Been eating lettuce and onions wilted with bacon grease with a little salt and vinegar sprinkled on. The bacon grease helps the blood slide through the arteries better. I do like some greens (of all kinds) fixed the way you are talking about. Haven't had any poke in years.

My Grand Mother used to put me and Grand Dad on the hunt when I was little. On our fishing trips which were usually farm ponds we were expected to bring back a mess. She always fixed it with pork brains and eggs. Ate it like it was candy. Not today though. Sure would like to try some fixed like Nimrod.

I LIKE IT REAL WELL , FRY THAT BACON CRISP AND CRUMBLE INTO DRAINED GREENS ALONG WITH SOME GREASE. JUST REMEMBER TO BOIL AND DRAIN GREENS ABOUT 3 TIMES TO TONE THEM DOWN. I JUST PICKED 4 WALLY WORLD SACKS PACKED FULL SO I COULD FREEZE SOME FOR LATER . I COOK IT AND FREEZE QUART BAGS FULL , THEN TAKE OUT AND SEASON (ADD BACON ) BEFORE EATING.

Haven't had any since I was a kid. Wouldn't mind trying it again.
