Stay on plane and as far away as you are able. If in a narrow channel, or boat lane, go on idle. Best to not fish those areas when lakes are crowded or you are going to be bounced around.

You bet GTT. I started it here for the reason of watching people on different lakes do strange things and thought about it last night reading that other post. Thanks for the input and I agree with 2 speeds thanks for the discussion.
Rees nailed this one to the Tee!!! Most people slow down thinking they are being nice, and in reality, they are trying to be considerate. Most of them like GTT never really thought about it until now tho.
Good Thread.

I can not find my Arkansas Boating book, SO I better get a new one.
My Missouri Book states it is illegal to:
Operate a motorboat or PWC at speeds greater then "idle speed" or "slow, no wake speed" within 100 feet of
1. a dock or pier
2. an occupied, anchored vessel
3. a buoyed restricted area.
I thought Arkansas had the same 100 feet rule.
The catch would be what is anchored, since the I-pilot, I have not used an anchor in a long time
I had rather any boat to plane by me, especially in a narrow area like Connaly. When they slow down the bow up in the air makes much larger waves and they keep and they keep bouncing off the bank.
I hate the boats that slow down with bow in the air thinking they are being curtious! I have hollared and pointed till some stopped and said '' well I slowed down ? '' They looked dumbfounded when they saw the 4' swells behind them. Most folks need to look and see what wakes leave least wake for passing folks and give room when passing. Nothing worse than an idiot passing by less than 50' on an open lake over a mile wide!
I have actually had folks pass me so many times in one day washing me around that I made it a point to remember them later on the water when passing them .
Thing to remember many folks cuss the big boats on plane passing but some of the small over loaded , under powered , and stick steer boats produce bigger waves.

This is an actual conversation...
Ski boat captain pulls up and says "we ain't been on this lake before, is there any place on it that doesn't have any stumps.
Me "Not many, but right here where I'm at is stump free"
Ski boat captain " OK thanks"
Then proceeds to test his ski boat that had set up all winter long, in a circle, around me, wide open, then down to idle, then back wide open for 15 minutes bobbing me around like a tooth pick in a toilet until I packed up and left. It it ever happens again, I will send the boat testers right up through the stump fields.

Heck one dumb hick passed me for the countless time washing me around and I started out helping out when he stopped to ask questions . But the next time I did not try to stop him when I knew he would catch a stump. Next boat over I hollared ''watch this as I pointed at him ''. Well water was less than 3' and full of stumps. We could not believe how far the got before it happened . BAM BAM![]()

It really surprises me how many people get to operate a boat, don't know why it does though?? I started with my grandpa very young on Sardis with one of those overloaded little boats he wasn't afraid to let me know wrong from right. Needless to say spent a lot of time idling in and out of Thompson creek, John Kyle park and others. Wish others were as fortunate to be given those lessons! Kinda hard to forget. Sometimes I feel like he s sitting up front shaking his head still....
