I rolled outside about 1:30ish this morning, and it was snowing pretty good. I got me a cup of coffee and watched it for a bit. I'm guessing maybe 1/4 to 1/2" of snow tops here at the house, but it was enough to keep me from getting out. I'm still hooked up and looking forward to trying it early in the morning. Ain't supposed to be no more frozen precipitation till Friday, so I should be okay. Should definitely be plenty cold. I'm afraid my eyes might freeze but I got my Four Roses and my gas heater! One to heat the outside and one for the inside.

Well it's 1:00am, and I got myself a fresh pot of coffee. Asked my daddy if he wanted to go fishing with me this morning, and I was both surprised and impressed when he told me that I must be crazy. I think it was a compliment since up until now he was the crazier of the two!

It took all of 2.5 hours to confirm that I am a Mississippian. I am no Yankee. Weatherman said 16 degrees with a windchill of 8, and I think he was a tad high. I froze my little hiney off. I believe I would have been upset if I'd caught a fish as I would have felt compelled to try it again some time. Now, the only way I'll fish when it is this cold is if my family is starving and I have run out of bullets.

I think the water needs to be cold, not the air. Snagging

I dont know Bill, have seen times down there when you left the truck running with the heat going, one rod in the truck staying thawed out and fish with the other one. When it freezes up go swap rods, repeat. Coarse that was in the ole days when we casted, now they use 11 or 12 foot rods and about 15 foot of line out and sling it, cant get near someone that way. have seen it at Grenada when it was shoulder to shoulder on both sides from the wing wall to the bend down at the campgrounds. Seen the biggest crappie I have ever seen on one of them days, nose down in a 5 gallon bucket and its tail was sticking out the top waving back and forth.

Jimmy, hey buddy, I just got me a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel 100pf, and it has been great company on these cold days. I ain't no rich Yankee with a fireplace like you, but I got me a hand-me-down wood stove that makes a right romantic crackle if you listen and know what you're listening for and got your lady handy!

The Maker's is always close, and I swear they make that stuff out of candy. It's my syrup!

This morning the water was 39.6 degrees in the old run and 40 in the channel. That was too cold for me. I did have plenty of room to fish though. It was not crowded.

Was anyone bringing any fish in? I'll be back in MS next week and was wondering if the snagging season will have ended?
