Default Does anybody single pole anymore at Sardis?!?!

Do any of yall single pole fish at sardis or than during the spawn in the shallows?! Seems to be the only way to catch fish now other than spring spawn time is trolling or spider rigging! I need to learn where to fish with a single pole on sardis other than shallow creeks during the spawn, im about to go CRAZY!!! I do have 5 bgjp poles and rod holders on the front of my boat and and going to try spider rigging but when doing that what do i look for? I know when single pole jigging i find structure or vertical timber but for trolling do i just slowly move across open water flats?

Find the shad with your fish finder....more than likely you will see crappie under them. Open water flats are good.....or the edge of a channel spider rigging

Not many pole fisherman hang around here for whatever reasons. There are a few though. single poling the corp lakes are pretty tough certain times of the year. Like right now, the lakes are all low with very limited structure in the right depths. anhwhere near the dam in deeper water if u could find some structure(or put some out) u could catch some good fish in January and February single poling a jig. Over the years I have found places to fish the other 9 months that the fish are not spawning. I like fishing the rivers below the dams, cut offs from the lakes like wildcat, the mud hole, etc. or in some cases the river above the lake is pretty good in places. It has taken many years to find these places and I think that's been just as much fun as the catching. If your looking for a sure fire way to put fish in the box u might just learn to use your spider gear. It's a year round technique that produces. Feel free to send me a p.m. and I will get u goin in the right direction

Thanks for the tips guys. I've been at sardis my whole life hunting and fishing very little. I have a camp close to hurricane landing and just started crappie fishing last year. I spend my whole winter in the lake bed hunting deer and ducks

Their seem to be less and less single pole guys on the big lakes. Most of the ones left are kinda like the fly fishermen purists who think it's a sin to catch a fish in any other fashion than an artificial on a string. If you were to travel east to the Ten-Tom waterway you would see a lot more of this style of fishing.

Single pole deep structure and deep river ledges. I'd rather single pole shallow for 3 months then troll for 6 months.

DEPENDS ON WATER TEMPS, BUT USUALLY MARCH /APRIL IS GOOD BUT FEB AND MAY CAN BE ON GIVEN YEARS .THERE ARE GUYS THAT SINGLE POLE FISH YEAR ROUND THAT DO WELL . EACH TECHNIQUE HAS IT'S TIME/PLACE . IT'S A PREFERENCE AS TO WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO .

    Depends on weather and fish.
