We can't use minnows in Oregon. I have had good luck with strips of cut bait. I will try that using your method
    Thanks

I would use cut bait from what ever you are allowed to use in roughly 3/8 cubes.

Deep water perchin' means a slow presentation. As has been said, dragging the bottom slowly or drop shotting. You just have to stay close to the bottom. Good luck!

Cut your bait from a fish belly in the shape of a pennant about 1 1/2 inches long. It will work fine.
    Best tasting fish ever.

    Default perch

Look for them in the deeper water. The lake I fish in Colorado all the dinks will stack up on flats (10-20fow) and the bigger jumbos will be in the 30-60 FOW. They seem to hold on steep drops too.Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412119108.014201.jpg

If your using electronics to locate them look for a Christmas tree looking mass in deep water and more then likely those are bigger perch. The little dinks just look like a change in depth.

After you catch one, pop it's eye out and tip your jig with it! You'll never use anything else again
Crappie, specs, freckles, slabs...call them what ever you want! I'll just call them delicious!

Thanks for the info. I checked quite a bit of the 50to 60 ft ter. Found more dinks. I was looking or the wrong thing on my ff though. I found the flat bottom hugging schools. Thanks for the heads up on the shape of the schools. I remember running cross some of those but never knew they were perch. Ill check them out and let you know what I find
    Thanks John

I will sure try that. I always cut thin tapered strips. How wide do you cut your bait.

I agree. Go to Lake Erie out by the Power Plant. Kentucky Rig some Minnows and get your hot sauce ready. Awesome Jumbo Perch are waiting for you. Man do I miss that Chaunc since moving to the South.
