Default Ok guys .and Gals ....Im at a loss here . Spider Rigging ? Really ?

'Spider Rigging ' ? Really ? Ive bit my tongue long enuff . Yea rigging is a sure fire way to fill a cooler or livewell , maybe take a great pic or two . But I think we / some of us have lost the real idea of a fishing trip. Why not just set a few dozen yo-yo's ? Maybe a trot line with 50 minnows on it ? Fishing for Crappie is almost a lost art nowdays ! What has happened to single pole jigging or even a minnow and cork ? I even like to cast a single jig . Im ole school I guess, but theres no better (or very few) feelings than that THUMP on my rod. I may get home with just 8 or 10 ......but I enjoyed and remember every one of those bites . Heck, the fish even taste better !! Those thumps are worth 10x more than just watching one of a dozen rod tips go down. Sorry if ive offended anyone. just something to think about. and I know.......each to his own.

Really? Your going to try and compare setting a few dozen yoyo's and baiting a trot line with 50 minnows with spider rigging. First off most crappie are too smart to mess with a trot line, That's why we have catfish. and secondly YoYo's are mainly used by folks who don't know what a fishing pole is. This is nothing more than a stir the pot thread in my opinion. But just too entertain you spider rigging is hard work... it requires knowledge of electronics, boat control, speed, on the spot rigging and last but not least... staying with your equipment and actually fishing and most times only uses four-eight poles. It is truly an art form and allot more than tying a string to a tree or dock and letting it sit...Stir the pot Baby!!!

Russ , I must have come across the wrong way ! I hate yoyos and trotlines ................! was just trying to make the point of fishing one man one pole .................one fish.! sorry if you took it wrong . my point was to actually feel the thump....set the hook and maybe land your fish . no stirring here for real .

No offence taken Tony just my two cents. The single pole verses spider rigging, verses yo yo's verses what ever... has been brought up sooo many times and all it ever seems to do is cause arguments on the board. You are a veteran of the board and been around long enuff who I would think would know the result of this type of thread. But maybe I am wrong and I apologize if I am. I just know what the final outcome of this type of thread will be, if you know what I mean. Somewhere along the line creek will end up putting the EMPSNAY on it. LOL

I make sure that someone from all groups will hate me. I like single pole the best, I do spider rig, I have been looking into pulling cranks, and I do once or twice a year run yo yo's. Now, I have something that everyone likes and something everyone hates. I'm all for equality!

Hey TonyJohn.... Or was it BaloneyJohn I didn't quite catch it. Sounds like you are not catching any fish. Also sounds like you have been misinformed about a few things. For one thing spider rigging is not a sure fire way to catch fish. Lots and lots of folks still have difficulty with it anyway. Sounds like you might be the one who has lost the "real idea" of a fishing trip, lol.

If you prefer to single pole only then by all means, single pole. I definitely enjoy single pole fishing, and spider rigging. I prefer spider rigging. So....you play your game and I'll play my game.
