I love these threads. I guess "old school" has it's own meaning to everyone. I picture myself in the front of a 12' boat, skulling and dipping a minnow in the buckbrush at Midway with my cane pole. That's my old school.

You guys have covered it, I'll leave the rest of it alone.

Crappie Pro is right spider rigging is an art from and it's a very productive way to catch fish but it's not as simple as putting a bunch of poles out and start taking fish off the hook it's a learning process and for me that's part of the fun of fishing learning new exciting ways to fish!

It took me a while to learn spider rigging. Still learning. You get rid of all your electronics and fish out of a 12 foot boat with a Sears and Roebuck 5 HP sheer pin type outboard. Maybe then you will really be back to basics. DP

Ouch... still fishin' with a single pole and jig (no minners). Want to buy rod holders to give spider riggin' a try. need to learn to catch crappie on single pole first though.

Hey Tony, all fun and joking aside, it sounds like you might not have had a proper introduction to the world of spider rigging. If you get a notion to try it just let me know and there will always be an open seat for you in my boat. Anytime you're ready just pm me and we will set it up. The only guarantee I can make is that you won't get bored, lol.

Everyone has a favorite way to fish. No need to bash one way when it's not your favorite way. I have a love for crappie fishing and being out in the great outdoors no matter how I am fishing I have a good time.

I promise you just because you got 8 rods out doesnt mean you are gonna catch fish. I will however promise you that you will get hung up, catch the wrong fish which in turn will wreck havoc on your 8 rods and make you question why you ever bought the 8 rods. Now lets all go fishin!!!!
