    So does insurance cover accidents while trailering, or do people just not insure a $20k investment? Never had to file a claim personally, but I am more worried about somebody hitting my boat or a road hazard than me hitting something in the lake.

    My pockets aren't deep enough to leave that size of a risk uninsured.

    My boat cost a fraction of that and I insure it. I guess financing stuff I've seen what all can happen, get insurance in line before title is conveyed, once its in your hands its your loss
