    Default Canyon Lake Crappie report

Anyone have a report from Canyon. I went last week but it was windy and I'm not familiar w/Canyon. Lost a few minnows and my bearings. Wind picked up and I got the heck outta there. I usually fish Medine for Crappie and whites but it is only 2% of capacity.

Johnny, the crappie are biting at Canyon Lake on both minnows and jigs. Jigs have not been as productive on cold front days but out fish minnow after a couple days of warmer weather. I think the cold weather is about over and the spawn is on. Water temperatures are hitting high 60's up river. Look for clearer water along the main channel about 13' to 23' and the crappie are suspended about 5' to 6' deep. The crappie should be moving to shallow water any day. Most of my guided trips are with novice fishermen and they are taking home about 15 per half day.

    Go catch'em and have fun!

Fished Canyon today. The river was full of blips. Too windy to jig. Got three skinny females, barely keepers, trolling rattle traps and Rapala. Lotsa fish, hard to catch. 20-26 ft.

Unusual weather this year. Looks the cool weather is not over. The spawn is really late on Canyon this year.
