Default Lake Masters auto chart and auto chart pro ?

So my question is Is the contour sd card reusable ? Or do you have to purchase one for every lake you want to map ? I haven't seen the contour sad cards sold by themselves You would think you could load the contour sd card map your lake upload to the software then export to a regular Sd card . Erase the info on the contour sd card and reuse . I know this is really new stuff but I would like to know

The Zero Line Card is a special card that comes with the AutoCharts package...(special because it is a mapping card that can only be read by a HB unit...it just doesn't have contour lines on any of the included lakes)...

    http://www.bbcboards.net/humminbird-...source-22.html

The Zero Line Card has 2 million lakes that have no contours...

The HB recording is uploaded into the AutoCharts program ...and then the program makes a contour map from the recorded data...

That new map data is then uploaded to the Zero Line card which will be inserted into the HB card slot (just like your other mapping cards)..

I would assume if you wanted to map another lake...you just make another HB recording, run the HB recording thru the AutoCharts program, upload the new map data to the Zero Line Card...and now you have 2 lakes mapped on your Zero Line Card...etc...

The Zero Line Card (with the new AutoCharts mapping data)..can then be used just like a Navionics or regular LakeMaster mapping card...if the Zero Line Card is the only mapping card in the unit- the unit will automatically recognise it as a map card and load the AutoChart data...if there is another mapping card and the Zero Line Card in the unit- you can choose which of the 2 you want to display...(the AutoChart data WILL NOT be overlayed onto the Contour XD map, the Navionics map, nor the regular Lakemaster map- if you have one...the Zero Line Card is a separate mapping card - it will just have your own individual recorded maps built from the HB recording you did)...

Doug says that the HB recordings can be created on a regular SD Card ...but I haven't found 100% confirmation of that yet...

Bill Carson's demo at ICast 2013 indicates the recording is created on the Zero Line Card..

The Navionics + card allows you to load up to 2 gig of map info I believe. Once it's full, Ya gotta buy another one. I think they may be working on allowing you to delete some maps in order to load new ones. You still only have a 1 year subscription to load maps. Autocharts is lifetime I think. With the zeroline card only able to hold so much info, it's would seem that you would need to delete items if possible, or buy another card.

    QUOTING Doug...:

I was informed that you could collect the data on any SD card or you could use the Zero Line LM Card to collect data then import into the Computer but you have to export to the Zero Line Card that comes with the AutoChart Package and to display map on Humminbird the map must be on the ZeroLine Card that comes with Auto Charts.

    And this ...:

If you want to share with friends you can share the data too. For example 5 Boats go to Canada fishing trip all 5 record sonar data and have one copy of AutoCharts and you can import all 5 users data and create maps instantly and then save the data to each users cards and all 5 boats would get the same LakeMaster Auto Chart. Collect more data each trip and increase the map

    UNQUOTE...

These 2 comments from Doug almost seem contradictory...

He says the Zero Line Card must be used in the HB unit for the unit to display the custom mapping created in the AutoCharts program...

Then he says 5 different guys can collect recordings, run the recordings thru 1 copy of the AutoChart program ...and then all 5 guys can have the ability to display the custom map data...

I know the map data (any map data from Navionics or Lakemaster)....does not reside in the unit ...the unit merely "reads" the data from the map card...so there's no way to import the AutoChart data into the unit memory...such that the Zero Line Card could be erased and still have the previous custom map data for the HB unit...

Once the map card is erased - it's gone -it's not in the HB unit anymore...nor on the card...

And if (big if) ....the Zero Line Card must be used in order for the HB unit to "read" and display the custom map data creaed in AutoCharts...Doug's statement of "all 5 guys can have the same custom map data" ...would seem to indicate that the "5 guys" must have their own Zero Line Card....

Maybe the Zero Line cards will be available without purchasing the entire AutoCharts program...which would make sense as you guys have already noted that "any" SD Card will only hold so much data before either ...1 the data is erased....or 2 another card must be obtained to hold more data ...

Like I mentioned before...all the info is not available yet because the product is not yet in customer's hands...we will learn more as things progress...

    Rickie,
I would assume that all five guys have a Zero Lines map card. I am checking on whether these will be available for individual purchase. Some have already asked about having different Zero Lines map cards for different states and also as a back-up copy as well. I’ve got a bunch of questions into Engineering about the AutoChart program and its Zero Lines map card. Just waiting for official answers now.

This would make sense as the Zero Line Card will be eventually maxed out with data...and it would be kinda yuk to have to purchase another AutoChart program just to get another card...

Maybe engineering will respond for you....(and us)...

I received some answers but don’t think that they are “official”.
The Zero Lines map cards will be available without buying a complete AutoChart or AutoChart Pro package. No word on part number, name or anything like that yet. No word on the final capacity of the Zero Lines map card yet as many sizes have been tested and some have been very, very large (capacity wise). They are reusable: you can record to them and add/delete map data just like any memory card, though I think that I would do all of my recordings on a separate memory card if possible, but that’s just Rickie’s OCD rubbing off on me.
