Welcome to the crappie forum, You want to listen to some of these ole Rosters on here, they know how to crow, at times I think they just fish to see who can out crow the other, but they got their status from being consistent and good, an most on here will bend over backwards to help ya. I private message some of them if I want to know something that they are doing and I am not sure about, out of all my request I've sent I have only had one that never got back with me, That's what this forum is about is learning, so you got to ask if you don't know. Some things I just don't ask like show me X marks the spot. Most on here have learned if you open up a can of worms, it gets out of control before long. But most information is freely given. And we would like to see you have success so you could start crowing.
Welcome from Hot springs Village. Holler if you want to try the village lakes sometime.

Welcome aboard and I have been trying to figure Lake Catherine out with little luck. I will be looking for a post of lake Catherine fish when you find them. Good luck.
Gathering advice will save you time but keep fishing and it will come to you..........A preacher was riding a bicycle down the street when came upon a boy pushing a lawnmower down the sidewalk. He said that's a good looking lawn mower. The kid said I'll trade it to you for that bicycle. They traded and the next day the boy was riding the bicycle and rode by the preacher's house. The preacher red faced, sweat pouring off him trying to crank the mower. He told the boy, I believe you beat me on the trade. The kid said, no sir that's a good mower, you got to cuss it, it will crank. The preacher said son I'm a preacher, I haven't cussed in 30 years. The boy said keep pulling that rope, It'll come to you.
welcome
Look up ol' AgriHawg. I hear he's the resident Degray expert. Plus he and his FFA group do a little bit habitat work over there.
Jerry Blake guides on Greeson, and usually gives info freely. (oops, Jerry moved to Norfork. I guess its a good thing I checked that.)
Welcome aboard!

I do most of my crappie fishing on lake Ouachita, which is very similar to the two you mentioned. Catherine is a shallower lake in general but the fishery there isn't on par like it should be when you compare it to degray or ouachita.
Look for man made brush piles in 20-25 ft of water... You really can't ever go wrong there. Of course during the spring spawn you can find them on the banks and in shallow coves.
These lakes are clear, very clear, so be aware not to boat over the brush... Even at 20ft deep it can still freak out the fish.
Welcome from the Village.... these deep clear water lakes will beat you up, but you've got the right idea... good electronics, stealth and best of all......lots of time on the water. Nothing beats that.... there aren't many shortcuts that I have been able to find!
