    Default Sport Brella question...

I got me one of those sport brellas to fish with on my boat, but that thing is HUGE. How do those of you that have them fish with them? I put it on my boat (I have the Dub-L-Seat that has the umbrella holder), but the sport brella just seems to be in the way. You can't stand up under it to stretch your legs and just maneuvering around would seem to be a hassle. For those of you that use umbrellas, would you mind posting some pics on here of what you have and your opinions on them please?!?! I'm thinking about carrying this thing back unless someone on here can change my mind.....

You spider rigging or pulling cranks? I like mine behind me a little bit, not much of an issue pulling cranks but rigging is a little different.

I mounted mine to the floor behind my drivers seat (and braced it to the back of the seat) for pulling cranks. It's not in the way at all. I have my rod holders mounted on the sides. If I'm spider rigging or single poling I use a smaller, seat mounted umbrella from BPS. Don't retire your Brella, you'll find the right way to mount it.

Gonna want a LLOONNGG handle dip net as well if you are gonna rig from under a brella.

I added a foot to my sportsbrella pole to get it just a little higher....helps a lot. I also just walk the pole back into the boat to bring the fish in.....no net needed most of the time....if so its right at the boat so a real long handle is not needed. Granted its not as easy as fishing without the brella because you can't raise the pole up verticle....but its not that bad once you get used to it.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Neither...we go from top to top at Bay Springs and anchor down and fish each one awhile-- fishing with minners anwhere from 17' to 30' deep.

Put it behind you some where its out of your way and figure out where it is most comfotable for it to be. I actually stood mine up in a 5 gallon bucket full of slag a couple of trips so I could figure out where I wanted it.

Here's a couple pics of mine in the back and in the front!I wire tie the side flaps up out of the way when I'm using it. They seem to get in the way some.In the back it fits in the center pin hole. In the front, it fits into a heavy piece of pvc that I have mounted behind my casting deck.
