I have an open seat for ya whenever you have time man. Every weekend form here out will be spent on the water.
what is it about nw facing shores that make them hold the fish? i would have guessed that south facing shores would have been best but i guess that shows how much i know. by the way i hit lake union for a little while today thowin grubs and didn't get any bass but caught a 13 inch cutt
Those cuts put up a pretty good fight though lol. The weird thing is you'll catch them with crappie jigs under overhanging brush during this time if year. I guess they follow the sticklebacks into the shallows. Once summer hits you don't catch them up shallow much. There are some really big trout in Union as well. I've never had the patience to fish for them. A slip float and worm fished in the south end does well I guess. My dad nails a few in the south end every year that are the size of a steelhead.Originally Posted by urban_fisher1
The wind blows from the north or NW about 80% of the time so the N & NW coves (were the bank of the cove faces north) don't get hit with all that wind and wave action so they warm up first and cool off last. If there's a good rock bottom it'll hold the heat much better than a wind blown southern shore or cove (were the bank faces south and all the wind and waves beat the shore).
Koke, just bring a tackle box and rods. I have the rest covered no worries. I'll shoot you a PM before the weekend.
Slab you just let me know, when and what i need to bring, I may be a little busy this week moving my grandmother into a new home, but I hope that does not carry into the weekend. let me know!!!

i get it, that makes sense and i guess it might also be easier to fish where there is less wind. and yes those cutts do fight pretty hard for their size, both of the ones that i have caught out of there i thought were small bass at first. as long as i hook something i am happy
They're probably a sucker or shiner of some sort. I used to see some pretty looking ones in Rocky Ford creek amongst the trout.
Whatever they were they're not there anymore. Got through with business and moved on.Originally Posted by Bill Wormer

nothing wrong with a 3 pounder. it sounds like i need to get out on the big lake soon. good job :D
if you don't mind me asking, what were they hitting?
