We caught a mess of crappie early on. Marked some fish on the bridge pillings and caught 3 flyers. We had drifted minnows through an small area catching a couple crappie on each pass, and we decide to head down river in hopes to find some perch. A guy wearing a gopro had passed us earlier. He was coming back down and said he had had no luck. Told him what we were doing and showed him exactly where the fish were hanging on a little piece of tree in 10' of water. Told him were leaving after this pass and that the should fish it. He cuts in front of us, beaches his boat and starts casting out large, free-lining minnows. As we pass, I look back and three of our corks were down. YES! Fish on!................um, no. He casted across three of our lines and had a giant mess pulling back to his boat. We ask him to open his bail and we would untangle them. We had to cut two our ours and his line to undue the mess. People are funny. Shawn told me to calm down and have a Snickers bar. By the time I found CrappieFarmer to get him to go beat the guy up, we were too far down river and I was almost over it.
Caught a few small perch in 3-5' of water. Marked some fish holding on the bottom down near the state line. Tossed out a bouy and anchored upwind. Caught nothing, but did have a fast moving catfish jug/float make a bee-line for out marker. The catfish jug and our marker tried to make babies for 10 minutes before the catfish moved away.
Had nothing for weigh in. We were going to head out to catch some more and Jim B told us exactly where to go. He told us the fish were small but lots of them. He was right. Caught a bunch of males cruzing with our minnows set at 1.5' in 2-3' of water.
Had a great day. Good to see/meet everyone. Going to be a good fishing year.
Should have told me about him Ranger Danger. I would have gladly hopped on his boat and ruined his day for ya! Whole bunch of pent up frustration could have been taken out on him. After all I've had go wrong and still going wrong and no woodsgoats to hammer down on to make me feel better, it would have been a pleasure to throw him in the drink. The yahoo in the boat that tried to test Jim B's swimming skills could have joined him.CF

Sorry I missed this one, looks like a good time was had by all. What's the story with JimB getting swamped? Wish I had known, I could have given him a selection of hand picked certified Ernst T. Bass pitching rocks. I keep a five gallon bucket full in the front of my boat at all times!
And believe me they are getting worse. As I live 20 minutes from Bob's an fish it a lot, have to watch out. As the weather warms up it will be even worse. I will stay in the creeks, or less known water ways. Its sad to think that someone has no thought to slow down as they pass someone in a boat fishing. those bass boys don't slow down for nothing, and they wee bad Saturday. I feel your pain Jim.

I'd rather the bass boats go by doing 90 than slow down to just barely on plane thinking they are doing you a favor. The big boats, no excuse. Had one throw a wake on me in my old boat a few years ago on the yeopim. Ran by me twice and both times, washed the boat back to the console. He was in a 35 footer. Kept running back and forth in the creek when the whole dang Albemarle sound was slick as glass. He had that whole sound to ride in. We were in site of it. No. He had to run yeopim creek and throw a 4 foot wake on everybody. The second time he washed the boat, I was cussing him before the wave hit. He saw me as I was visibly to him very pissed. Waving the one finger and shaking my head Stone Cold Steve Austin style. He went back up the creek and I was waiting for him to come back but he never did. Guess he was local but if he had the plan was to board his ship and put an end to stupidity. Guess it was a good thing he didn't cause I'd be posting from jail today. Wanted to call the game warden and tell him to just go sit in his Jon boat up the creek for the weekend and he would have fun writing tickets but I cooled off and I didn't like that Sob anyway so I let it go.

I've a couple of close calls at NW and West Neck, don't know if they don't see my little jon boat or what. Think I'm sticking to the 10hp and trolling motor lakes. Even with that there was a guy killed at Prince years ago because somebody wasn't looking coming around one of the points and ran over him breaking his neck. I think a lot of it his what my boss calls the Me Generation, not really a generation thing but people are so caught up in their own life and the pace at which they are living they don't think about the people around them. I see it on the road every day. I spend a couple of hours on the road every day traveling between inspections. I now think that the time on the road ids more dangerous than any construction site that I visit. I use to let people know when they've done stupid with a little horn tap or a salute if they've done something really stupid, now I just assume everybody out there is carrying and just waiting for a chance to shoot me.
