Can anybody give me some insight to the creek/lake at the park. Going to stay there a few days at the end of the month. I will be using a canoe not my boat.
Thanks guys.

I'm new here and this is my first post. I saw your thread and wanted share my knowledge of the park with you. I fished this lake quite a lot a few years ago. You will find bream, bass and chain pickerel in the lake. There are probably crappie, but I did not target them. To the right of the boat ramp is a cove. Fish the pads with a top water frog and work the banks with soft plastics. Another good spot nearby is Swift Creek Lake in Colonial Heights. The upper end narrows down with plenty of shade which is perfect this time of year.
Go all the way to the dam if you can paddle that far. Always used to catch crappie there. Mostly white crappie which is a little diffrent for around here. Lots of shallow water with stumps but you should be OK in a canoe. Let us know how you do.
