We know them as lake perch or yellow perch.
Everyone around here (SC low country) call em red Finn. I see TV shows and hear people say they are good eating. Most people I know just kill them, call em bait steelers and claim em to be bony. I've never tried em, but most of em caught on Santee Cooper where I fish are 4" to 6". Every blue moon you catch one around a lb..We know them as lake perch or yellow perch.

They are some of the best eating fish you will find. I wish we had them in middle TN, I'd fish for them all the time.
