At this point it's gonna be hard to tell just by looking .. there's enough water come down the river that the ash won't be obvious. If we leave it up to NC to test and disclose we may never know. Hopefully the Corps will keep tabs and publicize their results.

As of today this was reported.
Two miles downstream, they found ash 5 inches deep, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. At the N.C.-Virginia line, 9 miles down the river, it was 2 inches thick. Traces of ash were found all the way to Kerr Lake more than 70 miles away.

Don't have any "local connections" left, Don. And can't get any response from the Tenn Forum, either.
I've restarted the Spring Fling/Fall Brawl series ... on Green River Lake, here in KY. (about a 6.5hr drive for you ... and a 2.5hr drive for me)
And we're also running some Fruit Jar $$ tourneys, starting in March @ KY Lake, then some other local lakes in the months following.
But, yeah ... I do still miss fishing on "The Bar" ... and would pack up & head down there in a heartbeat, if I could get some reputable reports.

I have searched out all the articles that I could find and dug up a lot of history concerning the power plant, Much of the plant was constructed from 1948 through 1951; with state of engineering what it was then, what they had was a disaster that had to happen; especially considering the lack of proper maintenance over the years. Placing the ash pit within a couple of hundred feet of the river was a real bright idea too.

Reading over the articles of the last few weeks has me convinced that the politicians and big business are trying to minimize the financial damage, and cover their butts more than putting everything available into keeping more contamination from occurring, and containing what has hit the river and cleaning it up.

There's no telling what the end result will be, but you can be sure your electric bills, down the road, will show you who is going to pay for it. That's just not right! B-

In a separate subpoena also released by the state Wednesday, federal prosecutors ask for information related to certain Department of Environment and Natural Resources employees. Among the information those employees are commanded to produce are "All documents related to payments ... received by you from any of the Relevant Parties" and "All documents relating to receipt of an item of value received by you from any of the Relevant Parties."
