After almost 2 weeks of holiday celebrations, family gatherings, and rotten weather,
I finally got out this morning for 90 minutes! WT ranged from 46* - 47* and air temp
was 10* at launch and 14* when my feet said it was time to quit.
Minnows refused to leave the bait holding cooler, reels refused to work reliably, the
finder only worked when it was in the sun, and even the wipe rag wasn't working.
The best I could manage with frozen gear was vertical jigging. The fish were more
cooperative than my gear, however, so 90 minutes on the water (no ice yet) produced
a total of 6 keeper-size fish. Here's my first fish for 2014:
...and a nicer one:

No new boats for a few months! This was the old one (Lowe 1448) I used before adding the 16' full V to the fleet.
Were you able to stand up after 90 min in that temperature?![]()
