    Default Minnow Baits

I have been fishing with minnow style baits like the Bobby Garlands stingers and other straight tail baits but I am having a problem with the tails getting bent and not running right especially in hot weather. I try to keep them in their package as straight as possible but sometimes the kids get them or I get in a hurry or whatever. Does anyone have a good way of keeping them? I was thinking about putting them in one of the used Gulp containers with the scent but I dont know if that will mess them up. I know it should keep them from getting bent. ANy ideas??? I dont know it the scent will break them down socking it in. I messed up and posted this on the main forum as well thinking I was here.

I take mine out of the bag and they go into Plano boxes. And then I usually spritz them with garlic oil or shad oil.

I haven't tried the gulp juice, but I drop my saltwater plastics in the juice for a few days before I'm going flounder/ speckled trout jigging. I don't think it harms the rubber, but I don't think they pick up much scent either.

I put em in a thin Plano box two spaces wide... Heads left tails right, heads right tails left so they kinda lock in place, never have any problems... I've been adding hardener to mine for over a year and a half and now if I use a bgbs on occasion they feel really soft, and the tails are usually bent..

I have problems with my gulps having bent tails so I don't think that will help much? Maybe run hot water over them?

I too store mine in a plano type box, with a little smell good liquid on them. However you can straighten the bent tailed ones back out by heating up a cup of water to boiling point in microwave. Take out, drop baits in wait 15 to 20 seconds take out and lay flat to cool. Good as new. Just did a few that I just bought and they came out of the bag that way.

THe gulp jugs I am talking about are the bigger bass and saltwater jugs they just float around in there but I am worried about breaking down the rubber.

Idk Mike, I know those gulps will dry up and shrink if they aren't in water... Idk what they are made of but is a pain in the butt to get off a Jighead once they dry out. I'm not crazy about them... Just drop one in there and see what happens over a weeks time, be sure to let us know how it worked

I dropped a few in there and will get back with you guys. If you use the bigger containers it will definately keep them from getting messed up cause they just float around and are not held in any one position very long. I just dont know what that stuff is made of, is it just scent? If it is just scent or oils then they shouldnt break down. PP wont the hardener affect the action, seems the softer the more action with less movement.

No way, not on stingers, I keep the curly tails soft but those pintails are so thin they wiggle just holding em, only with the hardener I catch over 25 speckles on one bait, or until I hang brush

I've got my 1" gulps in little gulp container and I think they come half bent up but they never seem to straighten out however the ones that are straight sure catch fish... Just make sure whatever you put them in doesn't leak... They make a mess if they leak... Let me know if it works for you
