I use 1/4-20 stainless bolts with a lock nut to keep mine on.

Ive never had a tag stolen, but last summer someone hit the rudee inlet boat ramp lot and took the hitch pins. I was lucky enough to see the problem( another truck and trailer, trailer and hitch disconnected with the boat still in the water), before I experienced it.

There are some real low life's that prowl boat ramps. And they wonder why I carry.

Someone probably used them to steal another trailer. Throws law enforcement off when they search the tag number matching the description of the stolen boat. your name pops up if still active. gives them cover for just long enough to get away.CF

I like the metal frame... I'm leaning toward mixing a little JB weld on some 1/4 20 bolts and nuts... I'll just cut them off if I need to replace the trailer in the future.

I suppose since I don’t recall anyone suspicious the title of the thread may not be entirely true (Coin toss)....
maybe they will show up in a lake or side of the road in the future but I'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement tag frame, I tried Harbor Freight, Wall Mart
but only finding the plastic ones in tail light kits I was hoping to mount it for the weekend, anyone have suggestion other than ordering online?

I have found several tags on the boat ramps. Pulling out of the water puts a lot of pressure on them. Last Friday when I launched at Longwood, I saw what looked like a plate in about 2 feet of water on the ramp. Didn'w want to get wet first thing that day so I let it be.
