    Default Thief struck again :-(

I decided to prep my boat for Sunday incase the weather worked in my favor... while at the back of the boat I noticed my License was gone.... after inspecting further I noticed the frame missing and also both bolts and nuts was missing, (nothing broken) :-(

The last time I was out was the weekend of the 5th of April in Suffolk I didn't suspect anything so I didn't notice until yesterday, the good news is I got the old license plate unregistered and new ones issued within an hour and DMV only charged me $5 for re-issue, I wanted to share so folks will be awear not to let your guard down.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mike. Was that a lifetime plate?

How can someone be that desperate to steal a plate and bolts/frame? What is the advantage to doing something stupid as this? We as fishermen really need to be aware of our surroundings and look out for each other while fishing. I just hope if I catch someone in this situation that I can keep him/her alive until the cops come. I won't make any promises though.....

    Default Bummer!

Sorry you were the vicitm, maybe we could get them to pick on jet ski trailers, instead of crappie fishermen! At least they didn't steal the trailer.

The thing is that if the thief could get a legal plate he wouldn't bother stealing one. It's probably on a stolen construction trailer tooling around Hampton Roads right now. With any luck, he will get caught with both items, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah, I just got my new plate, cost me $5 as well, the time spent at DMV was a heck of a lot more valuable than the $5 though. Mine was a permanent as well. Thankfully that was all that was missing. I wasn't quite sure if it broke off or someone broke it off, however the new metal bracket won't..... Hopefully

I've had that happen twice now, I use wing nuts and take them off when I launch. It's a hassle but it's better than the DMV hassle to get new ones.
