Quantico isn't too far up the road from Lake Anna. It's a big lake and some very nice specks come out of there each year. Guided trips are available, but at that time of year you'd better book early. Charlie knows the guides & can give you some recommendations. Closer to home, you may be able to enjoy some fishing on Lake Curtis and the Marine base lakes. We don't get many reports on these lakes, but DWAW lives nearby and says he's planning to give them a try this year.

Coupedog, as Corker stated Lake Anna is close. Think I read somewhere that its Va's 2nd largest lake! I put in at Anna Point Marina Anna Point Marina at Lake Anna, Virginia
but there are many other ramps around the lake. I only recently started crappie fishing, but feel @ the time your going to be here, fishing the boat docks (lots of them there) and bridge pilings in the upper parts of the lake will produce some nice crappie fishing for you and your son. I plan to fish Anna several times a week this spring, check back here on a date closer to your visit. Would be glad to recommend a guide , if you want to plan ahead for one there.
