Default Late Report for the PQ

Sorry for the late report guys, but I just got back to a computer that you can type on without a bunch of autocorrect making my mind up for me.

Fished Monday and Tuesday, Feb 18th and 19th. Took a lil while, but I found a pretty decent stretch of river holding some fish. Caught between 80 and 100 crappie, 4 yellow perch, a bream and two small rock. Went trying to get a little meat for the freezer, and managed to catch enough nice fish each day to cull. The crappie were in deep water and staying low, even after the water temp warmed up a little during the day. had to fish at least 10-12 feet deep to even get a look. the deeper the better. Lost a few jigs but had a great time. had a couple of doulbles with decent fish. Prolly half and half nice ones to small ones. Tuesday was a little better for 11+ inch fish. Can't wait to go this weekend, hoping the rain didn't mess the water up too bad.

    TootsieRoll,
Sounds like you have been working on them down there. I am itching to get on the water myself. I worked on the boat all afternoon Sunday and got it running after I got all of that junk gas out of it. I am a few weeks behind on getting on the waterI have been starting some puppies and have not wanted to let up on them once they started....I know you remember them days. It's good to hear you are doing good and I hope the family is well. I am hoping to be able to post my first report sometime this weekend, hope to head to one of the Suffolk lakes.

Kenny, I hear ya. I thought about getting me some more hounds myself. Then I realize how much it would cost to get back into it. And with three kids playing sports and travel ball on 5 different teams it don't leave much time. I have to reserve that time for my peace and solitude.... and bowed up rods. Bring that boat on down to hertford one day this summer and I'll show you a white perch or two.

CF, You need to come on and go. I am planning on going one day this weekend. Like to go saturday, but baseball may mess that up. If you want to head this way let me know. Haven't caught much on the grubs lately. But that's ok. Just means I'll have plenty for white perch season. I prolly am goin to have to get some more jig heads though. Last week, the BGBS did bout the best. Got a hot pink/chart curl tail honeyhole jig body that did well also. For some reason, my greens and such that have worked in the past haven't caught nearly as many fish as they have before. Seems they are wanting the bright colors. Give me a holler if you plan on heading this way and I'll point you in the right direction.

Rooster I had to put the beagles on the back burner for a few weeks I had some hound puppies ready to start and I have been messing with them every spare minute i have had. I have got them going pretty good so now I am ready to watch a cork disappear! I hope to get on the water Saturday after our field trial at the southside.

Looks like I'll be heading to the river Saturday, CF. I'll give you a shout and let you know if you need to make the trip over. Got baseball practice Sunday so it kinda put a kink in my fishing that day.

Perquimans. Heard they were catching some in the pasquotank too, but I'm too trifling to drive all the way over there when I have fish ten minutes away.
