to catch a fish? I know ive barely crossed logjams..pulled canoes through long sandbars..croutched down in the boat while barely fitting through low bridges...fought snappin turtles and snakes off catfish limb lines.. hiking through thick woods etc... So whats your stories? ever had a guided trip or charter? whats the farthest youve traveled just to fish? whats the worst weather youve caught fish in?

does lying to your parents about where you were spending the night count? Good thing the channel cats were biting hard that night because we were totally busted the next day.
I can beat that, February years ago at Lee Hall we decided to go under Jefferson Ave to the other side. We take off the trolling motor lay down in the bottom of the boat and start pulling ourselves through by pushing down on the concrete ceiling and pulling the boat forward as the gunnels are scraping on the concrete. About half way through we realized we were stuck and couldn't go forward because of a step down in the concrete ceiling and we couldn't go backward because of the current had us wedged against the step. I'm laying on the floor in front of the front seat of a 12' jon boat and my buddy who is 6'4" is between the seats. I ask "What's now Quicksdraw", he laughs says "I'll do the thiniin round here" reaches back and pulls the plug to let 4" of water in the boat. We backed out loaded up and went home wet and cold without wetting a line that day.
Now as to how far I've gone, my buddy used to have a 50's model 16" Grumman cargo canoe, it was almost 3' wide in the middle and probably over weighed 120 lbs. We paddled that thing from the launch at Prince up to 460 and down to the dam, from the launch at Bob's down the Carolina line, used to launch at my sister's off Diamond Springs Rd into Little Creek Res and go through the canal over to Whitehurst and fish the pits by the airport. Wish I had a dollar for every mike I paddled that thing!
I drove my car from E TN down to Weiss lake to go fishing with a friend one time. We got stuck on a mud bar in his almost new $30K boat, he didn't seem to mind too much as he appeared to know ZACKLY how hard to push that new 150 hanging on the back to push us thru the mud bar. Going 35+mph in skinny water (<2 FOW) will open your eyes as well. but I had fun and some good memories.
GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
went up roanoke river pass Clarksville till it would get so shallow we would get out of boat and push it over the next hump to I don't know where we ended up. Another time went fishing with 9% weather and over 40 mph wind with waves so high that my 150 and 18 foot fiberglass went so high we came down and went thru a wave that knock both of us backward even through I had a windshield, pull in a cove and friend broke ice out of his beard and I took off jump suit to dry out and gust of wind blew it in the lake .Had to fish, rest of day without suit, would catch fish and if we miss livewell and hit boat with fish ,he stuck to the boat and had to be pull off,I was young and dumb, now just dumb. 4 years ago when just starting to fish Buggs in March ,I back boat in and rope slip out of hand and so I pull truck up a put in park went to get rope and truck came backing in water ,had to get it ,water was in floor of new truck and it slowly pull out, then I was already wet so jump in lake and swim to get boat with water temp 42%,went to camper and only had sanders so fish in cold with no shoes with air temp in 40's feet stayed cold, too cold for wife to fish. MY WHAT WE WILL DO JUST TO CATCH A FISH

Took the whole family with me a few years back to fish the Crappie Classic on Pickwick Lake. 12 hour drive each way. A dang hurricane past over the lake 4 hours before the start of the tournament. Fished tournament by myself. Day 1 of tournament was windy and rainy, tossing my 16' aluminum boat around pretty good. Could not fish where I had planed to. Day 2 they dropped the water in the lake 6 feet. Lots of current. I caught lots of fish both days but only managed 2 keeper crappie in 2 days fishing and ended up placing 30 something out of over 100 boats in the amateur division. Really could not believe that they did not cancel or postpone the tournament. Gave up fishing tournaments after this.
Hey Bennett, does tripes to Montana and Alaska count? Have had as many as 8 permits in 8 different states on a given year.
