this week starting Tuesday it became pretty tough here in north texas to ketch crappie fish
the weather might have some play in it ......
I hear some of the docks west of town are on , but close to dfw is pretty flat everywhere I hit
got close to skunked in several hot spots from last week
and yes the struggle is real .....

the drive was ugly , them I can drive folks get in the fast lane and do 20 and the rest of us pass them in the slow lane at 55 ......
and the ensuing slip and sideways action crossing lanes is quite the ride ......
one thing for certain the ice man cometh ....

Man I am glad the ice has been gone for a while from us down here! However we got 8' of rain out of this mess plus all the water that falls East of DFW comes right down here for a week after. So the lake is now full at about 172' and rising, which is up from 169' and maybe a little, so that's almost 3 feet of water up this week. Remember this is Toledo Bend with 1200 miles of shoreline so that's one huge amount of water. Also note the Generators both are running 24/7. I know fishing was hot before this, but not I suspect it stinks for a little while.

By the way Skip. For fun I did the calculation. TB has about 186,000 surface acres. 43,560 sq ft per acre x 186,000 x 3 (rise of feet) x 7.48 (gallon per cubic ft) = 181,812,470,400 gallons of rain. Yes almost 182 billion gallons. Plus whatever went through the dam gates.

Ketch, hope you made it safely look like a rough trip.

Skip you don't get all the rain east of DFW. I went fishing this morning and LOP has risen 6 feet. The water looked like mud and was as swift as a river It was also full of debris. The end of a sad story I brought home NO fish.

Basically true, but what leaves that lake comes here I think, most lakes East of Dallas feed down stream to here via the Sabine River. We have had 12 1/2" of rain in the pervious 5 days and it's suppose to rain aging today and tomorrow. The lake has gone from 169.6 to 172.88 today and they had 11 gates open a foot yesterday and lost ground so now they have the gates open 2 feet each, lol! I do understand the lakes keep a lot of water too, but what flows South ends up here to add to what we have already had. The bad part for us is it really messes up the fishing, but the worst part is it will end up flooding people South of us when this lake starts turning water loose, it's not good down there.

Hey thanks for the calculations! It always amazes me how much rain can raise the level of this huge lake as fast as it can. Up over 3 feet now this time and with both generators running 24/7 since it started and not with gates open a foot yesterday and loosing ground, lol! I see the internet says the lake will hold 1.5 trillion gallons of water, lol!
