Default Somerville Crappie Getting Ready to Spawn

Went to Somerville this morning and was able to land about 11 nice keepers with the largest being 14". I caught them all on minnows in 10-12 feet down in 15-20 feet of water. They hit from 0600-0800 and quit biting everywhere. All the males were nice and dark and fattening up for the spawn. The females had eggs but not fully developed. I figure another week or two and spawn will be full on in Somerville. Water temp was 50.4 degrees on top. With the cold front the next few days and then the warm up after I think it will be two weeks but I'll be out everyday I can till then and post what I find.

Is Somerville where you fish mostly?

No sir. I fish Lake Houston, Somerville, Gibbons, Fayette, and Conroe in that order. Lake Houston has lots of crappie and you can troll the bayou when the winds are high and be OK for the day. Somerville is a shoot and miss with the winds and my jon boat. I don't go out in anything over 10 mph. Still got bills to pay! LOL But if I had to pick my favorite lake it would be Somerville. It has good cats, bass crappie and bluegill all in one lake and easy to catch.
Nice website BTW. You should put a link in your signature so people can click on it and go it.
