    Default Somerville Crappie 4/23

Was fortunate to get out with my son to Somerville and do some more night fishing for crappie. Put in about 8 pm and left at 8 am. It was a great night with little or no wind. Fish were suspended 6-10 feet down in 7-15 foot of water. I was using my LED lights surrounding my boat and was able to attract a "storm" of shad around the boat which caused a swarm of predator fish all night. We easily landed and released over 30 keeper whites. We wanted crappie so we let them go. The crappie bite was just as good with us landing 29 total keeper crappie. Only sacrificed 2 dozen minnows as we were able to use the dip net and stock up on live shad for the fish. They were tearing them up! We also caught 5 cats on shad as well. Half of the crappie were caught on jigs, black/char. It was fun and tiring yanking on all those poles all night!
