I am a bass and crappie fishing guide and can tell you that Canyon's crappie fishing is pretty good right now. Largemouth and smallmouth are getting better. Both bass and crappie are in pre-spawn patterns. My clients are averaging about 15 keeper crappie per half day, when weather permits. Another guide on the lake does a lot of white bass / striper trolling and he is having good success, as well when the weather cooperates.
Choke Canyon is a wonderful crappie lake but is extremely low and many of us have elected to postpone guiding on the lake until water levels improve.
Lake LBJ is another very good crappie and bass lake and the water level is constant.
