Default Heading to Richland chamber lake

I'm headed to Texas tomorrow and look like weather is bad. What has the crappies been doing in this lake lately? I'm going to try to hit it for the first time ever. Any help would be great. Are there any good lakes close to Elkhart tx?

you got Lake Palestine about 35 miles north or Lake Athens the same distance north west. I know lake Palestine has some good Crappie & Catfish.

Palestine is your best bet for crappie. There have been some NICE fish caught there this fall. Contact Crazy Angler for info as it's his home lake.

I spent the past year working in Tyler, and my 5th wheel was in an RV park right on Palestine. If you've never been on Palestine before, finding deep brush piles is gonna be time consuming unless you have SI, and then it'll still take up a lot of time. Your best bet is to fish the 155 bridge pilings, crappie hold on them all winter....the bridge is a mile long so there are plenty of sets of pilings, you probably can't fish them all in one day....or you'll limit out way before you do. There are 5 piers in each set, the center three piers have a cross member running between them, about 8-10 ft deep depending on the lake level, if the fish aren't close to the bottom (they have been close to bottom) try working your jig or minner around the cross member. There is a river channel towards the southwestern end of the bridge that will have some deeper water, and a creek channel towards the northeastern end, but most of the depths you'll find under the bridge will be 24-28'. This bridge runs SW to NE, wind makes it tough to fish this bridge.

    Hope this helps.
