Didn't have much room to fish on Saturday. Once the fog broke, over half of the boats in the BFL tournament made a beeline for the lower end. I saw the asian guy who caught the 70 pound catfish. Him and his buddies were out in two boats. They were tightlining for stripe and crappie across from coon island. Unfortunately for them, they were fishing the edge of the river channel, and they had wake after wake after wake to contend with!

As Canbreaker is NOT afraid to drive his boat elsewhere, where are the ramps/bridges you are talking about in correlation with Elm Hill Pike and Bell Road?

From Elm Hill Marina, if you go out to the right, the next cove over is Elm Hill Recreation. If you follow the river channel for about a mile and a half, you'll get to Hobson Pike bridge.

If you're gonna fish the middle of the lake like Crappietime is talking about, you'll have to drive to Smyrna. Take 24 East to Sam Ridley Pkwy. You'll pass a golf course and a small airport and then you hang a left. There's a Citgo gas station on that corner that used to sell bait. If you follow that road, you'll run into Fate Saunders Rec Area and Stewarts Creek. Stewarts Creek is pretty good to fish when the water warms up.

Great thanks for the info. so anyone interested in showing a new guy around town where to take his lady friend fishing? He really doesn't want to go out by himself (when we went out one time we saw a guy alone in a boat with a fishing lure stuck in his finger! OMG - Canebreaker was great at the rescue but I was a complete whimp) - and we need someone to show us around this lake as it is new to him (and me). Please someone.........I said
"drive" boat when I mean to say "tow".....(dumb female)

Its more than a mile and a half Thrill. They call that point on the left with the bouy on it before the bridge, the Five N' a Half. That's cause its right at 5.5 miles from the dam. People that fish for rockfish and hybrids will know what your talking about when you mention it. You can't really miss the bridge heading upriver from Elm Hill. make 2 bends and you can see it

    Wow...that's 5 1/2 miles? I guess my boat's faster than I though!:D:D

I'm playing with my mapsource program right now and I'm amazed that Hamilton creek is over 3 1/2 miles from the dam....doesn't seem that far out on the water.

    Well said MidTin...

i've found that its easy to miscalculate distance on the water and you're usually under. Its like 15 miles from Shutes Branch to Cedar Creek on OH, including short-cuts. I can't remember exactly but I gps'd it and timed my runs so i'd know how long it would take me to get back that way I can get the most possible time in fishing tournaments.

I wonder how many miles it is from Flippers to Hunters point me and the older brother made that run one day just killing time and playing around fishing coves right and left of the channel.

Flutterby I can take you out on a special guided tour of Priest so you can surprise Canebreaker and really show him you been doing your homework... just joking tell him to hollar at me I should be off some that week.Just make sure he brings alot of rods and reels and lures my supply is running low and he might have something I need in my tackle box.
