The Duck River does have Crappie just not many in my section near Chapel Hill. It does have lots of nice Bluegill as well. Just my suggestion but try a #2 Mepps Dressed Aglia instead of the Rooster Tail. I used Rooster Tail for years but switched to the Alia because they are just built stronger and the blade always rotates. With that said may I also recommend a sinking Rapala I caught about sixty mixed species on the river Saturday. They crush the Rapala. I had Bluegill, Longear, Rock Bass, Spots, and Smallies. /

We live close to Duck river, so maybe once everything is done, we’ll ride down to the boat ramp this evening and see if there’s some hungry fish. Duck river isn’t known for crappie (at least this section isn’t) but a rooster tail can catch bluegill, bass, and even the occasional catfish. It’s a fun way to spend an hour or two.

Tomorrow we plan on hitting the lake, but Hubs hasn’t really decided on which one. I don’t care, as long as we go!
