Summer is a good time to fish, early morning and late evenings seem to be the best for me. Used to night fish some but have not done that in a while. You will need to plan on fishing deeper than in the spring, but basically in the same areas. My target depth for brush is about 20-25ft. I like to vertical jig the brush (good article about that technique on this website) letting it go all the way to bottom then slowly reel up through the limbs. Some times I will shake the jig to entice the bite. Pendulum casting deep lay downs on steep bluffs works well if not much current or thick limbs. I too pull cranks, usually on the deeper flats adjacent to where I caught them in the early spring. To me the best thing about summer fishing is avoiding the springtime crowds and having pretty much the areas I like to fish to myself. The green carp guys occasionally flip a jig or worm into my deeper spots and shake them up a little but the Crappie do not seem to mind. You read on here about the THUMP, the summer is the best time for me to feel that!
