    Default Loudoun Report

We got out for a couple of hours this afternoon. The water temp was 58-59 in the area we fished. 17 FOW, pretty close to the bottom in brush. I tried a bit shallower, but not yet. We probably caught 20ish fish, and kept 4 for table fare. Today they seemed to want it on the fall, and most takes were a little slack in the line, or the "heavy" feeling. My pics are just before cleaning, as I rarely take pictures on the water. I don't have very good luck with phones and water! Full of eggs, and red veins, but I don't think we are quite there. With the upcoming forecast, I'm betting on a slowing of the process. A warm February and early March, but ol' Mother Nature is still in control!Name: IMG_0545.jpg

Thanks for the report. I was hoping to hit the lake today, but I was unable to take off from work. I'm glad some got to enjoy the day and fishing. I'd like to try Tellico or Loudon on Sat morn, but I bet this quick weather change will have things all messed up. Thanks again

It doesn't sound good weather wise. I'm catching a lot of short fish on both of those lakes this year. I have found that is not unusual on Tellico, but a higher percentage of shorts on Loudoun from the past couple of years. You should still give it a go, says the guy who probably won't leave the house!

My wife & I fished Loudon in Poland Creek yesterday from about 10:00 to 3:30. Got 8 keepers and about 15 short fish. She got one about 14" - nice fish. Trolling grubs. Water was 56 degs. Beautiful day but looks like that's over with for a little while.

Good job! With all of these short fish, the coming years should be good. I caught a record fish yesterday. I don't think I have ever caught one that small! Honestly, it was about 3" long.....if that. I would have measured it in my checker, but I think it would have fell out the bottom!
