Thread: Fort Loudoun Report*

Decided to try a different section of the lake. The wind was up, but I had a plan on where to go to get out of it. What I hadn't planned on was a messed up starter. I am no mechanic, but I know the gear on the top of the starter was not engaging with the flywheel. I can diagnose, but can't repair, so it was trolling motor near the ramp...in the teeth of the wind. Caught 1 crappie, a white bass, and a gill. Water was 72 degress. Never got in water over 10' and most was less than 5'. Did get to enjoy a nice sunset and a beaver before winching the boat back on the trailer. This proves again, even when it doesn't go as planned, it's still worth it to get on the water!

Nice report. Love to see the deer swimming...always a bonus to enjoy all the nature.

Some people can lift and engage the starter gear with a screwdriver. I have seen it done, but I haven't done it myself

Update: A few drops of gun oil on the bendix (yeah, I learned something on the Internet!) and it works!

Nice report! Observation, can bring us lots of joy.

Good report and way to stick with it when you have trouble.

I owned an old ford car that wouldn't crank without a screwdriver. Thanks for the recall. I can't do it on my own anymore.
