Was out on Woods Res. today and noticed that our Uncle Sam just put 16 new covered slips in for the base employees. Ain't he nice!

Where did they put the new docks? At the rental boats or by Famcamp?

They are right next to the boat ramp for base personnel use only.

I havent seen them but would guess that they are only being assembled there and will be moved to base housing where the rental boats are...

I think they were assembled at the DOD ramp and moved to base housing...Thats where the enlisted families live that are serving our great nation.

They moved them from the ramp to the cove next to the swiming beach. More power to them if they are in fact for the enlisted families but I doubt it. I've been told that Military personnel only amount to around 10% and the rest are just government employees. It just doesn't seem right that an empolyee at the base (non military and has never served) has access to perks on the base. But a vet who served can't use those perks. That's my 2 cents, take it or leave it.

Do civilian employees of DOD also get base housing? A whole of what are now civilian duties there used to be military until the previous administration contracted a lot of it out, that there isn't much distinction anymore for a lot of civilian DOD duties, since active and reserve military are also DOD employees just under a formal military contract.

I am Retired Military, As for as I know only Active Duty Military gets base housing. I retired in 81 from the Military, but continued to work for the government as a drone pilot (Civilian) until 99. I was not allowed base housing as a civilian or retired Military. Being retired Military though, I could and did use the base facilities ie, Exchange, Gas station, Commissary, and MWR. All of the bases (AF,Navy,Army,USMC) I've been on, this was the case. I hope this is helpful information.
    Thanks
