I would first like to wish each of you the very best as many struggle with the aftermath of Helene. Prayers for you all in need of help. With the massive NC and upstate SC floods the Santee Cooper lakes were pulled down 6 feet to make room for influx of flood water waters heading down stream. Due to power outage at my plant, I was given both Monday and Tuesday off. I decided on Monday to head to the lake and mark stumps for navigation purposes. I took along one jig pole and a few jigs to sample fish a few brush piles. As it turned out the brush bite was absolutely on fire. I caught around 100 crappie on Monday. 200 or so on Tuesday. Lots of 7-9” fish, but many good’uns as well. I had the best of times both days with pleasant weather and little to no competition from other anglers. Goes to show, you can’t catch’em if you don’t get out and try. Here’s a few pics.

Congrats on a great haul. That's what I call a scouting mission that turned into quite the bountiful fishing trip... the best kind of scouting missions.
Thanks for sharing your success with the rest of us.

Looks like a blast! I have always found that the crappie tend to bite better when the water levels fall, at least in my area, that is what it seems like.

I grew up in that creek and I can second the brush pile bite being on fire! Definitely are loaded with smaller fish. I went the Monday before they drew the water down and literally had a limit in almost an hour and a half. I fished for about 5 hours culling and keeping the bigger ones. The larger fish seemed to only bite smaller profile jigs. Ended up with a nice mess. Finally got the mess cleaned up from the storm so should be back at it later in the week.
Edit: They were all full of bait fish, even the smaller ones.
