I agree with you. On Russell, which used to be a phenomenal crappie lake, the rise in spotted bass and decline in largemouth and (apparently) crappie numbers coincided. Brush often holds way more spots than crappie now. So the good eating spots have had to become the "crappie fillets" of the past.
