Thinking summer brush?

Just thinking about brush Fishing. Seems to me that a rubber jig like this,

Fished with only a bare hook with a 1/16 oz weight a ft above it would float and jiggle much more than the normal set up.
Maybe use a bass worm hook so it stays upright?
Anyone ever try it?

Don’t over think things. I use the same type jig in three different weights. Depending on depth being fished, wind, current, type of structure, and size of bait they are eating. 1/16, 1/32, 1/48 in my favorite color schemes is all that’s needed. Here is a pic of a few of my favorites in 1/32 which is what I’ve been using lately.

Those are not Shellcrackers, those are Fliers. Most wont know what kind of fish that is. They love grassy areas, and warm shallow lakes. I’ve only caught them in Santee, but know the can be caught in Florida and Louisiana as well. They look like a cross between a bream and crappie, and are very good to eat. The flesh is sweet and fishy, a good combo.

I did did tie those, but I learned from the master Tommy Vaughan. He’s been tieing and selling jigs for many of years. If you have interest, PM me and I will send you contact information. You won’t find a better person to deal with than Tommy, that I will guarantee.
