As stated Wateree is a great example of a put and take fishery and nothing more. guys taking limits during this month or two "hot bite" aren't going to put a dent in the fishery. DNR comes in with 400,000 fish every spring. We had few down years about 5-10 years ago when DNR was stocking 250,000, so they uped the stocking to the 400,000 about 3-4 years ago and now we are seeing that Cedar Creek run come back. One issue that may arise is that Duke Energy is proposing to do away with the fish sanctuary below cedar creek dam and even want to build a platform. These fish are extremely vulnerable then, so I hope that DNR rejects that proposal.

Wateree striper does have a PCB consumption advisory for 1 meal a month, so some gluttony pre-cautions should be exercised.

I cooked a load last night and ate another load of leftovers for lunch. I think that I read a few years ago, when you get to the fine print, that you had to eat five pounds of striper or catfish a month from Wateree for 10 years for the PCB's to be dangerous. I, for some reason, just do not trust our government!
