We had few down years about 5-10 years ago when DNR was stocking 250,000, so they uped the stocking to the 400,000 about 3-4 years ago and now we are seeing that Cedar Creek run come back. One issue that may arise is that Duke Energy is proposing to do away with the fish sanctuary below cedar creek dam and even want to build a platform. These fish are extremely vulnerable then, so I hope that DNR rejects that proposal.

Wateree striper does have a PCB consumption advisory for 1 meal a month, so some gluttony pre-cautions should be exercised.
I cooked a load last night and ate another load of leftovers for lunch. I think that I read a few years ago, when you get to the fine print, that you had to eat five pounds of striper or catfish a month from Wateree for 10 years for the PCB's to be dangerous. I, for some reason, just do not trust our government!

Pete you need some weenie dogs like I have, they love the red meat off the stripers,so at my house, even the red meat is eaten ( by the dogs). Speaking of "lurkers" this thread got one of em out of the closet and made his THIRD post. It be nice to know the number of post he has read. Keep the good pictures and report coming. Those numbers compare to the numbers caught in the Roanoke river on good years,it know as the rockfish capital of the world

Sam, the fishing was very much like the Roanoke, these were larger than we found up there

Side of Wylie many times and I have lived in S.C my whole life.
If I remember correctly a 21" fish weighs between 5 and 6 pounds, which is an excellent eating size. Don't see where there is a problem, besides it is a put and take resource so you are not taking any brood stock out.
