    Default Midweek Masacre

After three straight weekends of working at the lake property in Tamassee SC, on Whitewater lake near Keowee. I took a couple of vacation days to do a little fishing at Santee. The fishing was a little weird today, meaning most spots held only a single good fish. The biggest advantage to having hundreds of brush to choose from is one fish per brush equates to hundreds of fish caught, lol. It was a fun day of fishing, though I did burn a lot of gas moving around so much. Around a 125 crappie were caught on the day. All fish were caught off brush piles on straight jigs in water ranging from 7 to 24 feet with one pole. Pink and chartreuse was the best color. Water temps were 89 degrees.

Wow Ink you da man. That had to wear you out. Lake level went down an inch. 30 years ago I wouldn't mind cleaning that many. Right now I stop at 20. Nice report. I have seen that one or two per brush before. Just don't have 50 to go too. How long do stay on one brush before you move?

I didn't keep that many fish, just enjoyed the catching. I usually give a brush 5 to 10 minutes to produce. If I'm catching quality I'll stay put. If the fish run small, I'll move on. I use only the outboard motor when jig fishing. Idle up to a spot, flip the jig out a few times, no bites or the bite slows or stops I'm off to the next spot. Fishing fast, covering water is my style when brush fishing.

Ink, your really SHINE During THE summer monthsz even when you shine duiring the rest of the year due to the sizes of the crappie you catch. It's your summer month reports that keeps me fishing. Heep producing them and I'll keep fishing even though I dont go to the same trouble that you do sinking brush (and dont catch the fish that you do either). Congrats.

Just like working a job Butch, the harder, longer you work, the more you get paid.
