Well I made it to Secession Thursday. I talked one of my friends,Frank, into taking the ride up with me. We long lined jigs (untipped) from around 8am til 1pm. We started just above the bridge and we had 4 rods go down at once before we got all the rods in the water. That always gets you going. However they were all small ones and we decided not to keep any under 10". We culled through about 35 to get 6 that were nice fish along with two good size perch.
We were using 1/16 oz ligs, but I put on a 1/8oz and caught 4 straight on it so I figured we needed to be a little deeper. We probably had 15 or 20 that were legal, but an 8 inch crappie just looks small to me.
June bug sliders were the best color but other blue with chartreuse tails worked too. Here are a couple of shots of Frank(who is Obrage's uncle) and one of the live well. I could not get one of the pictures to rotate in my editor for some reason. I messed with it for a good while and finally gave up. Maybe one of the Mods can flip it.

Two things I wanted to check out was my wheel bearings and live well pump. The bearings were fine after about 100 miles nonstop so they should be good for my Florida trip next week.
I replaced the live well pump last week because my old one would not prime unless I backed up the boat with the pump running. I put in a new, 800 GPH pump,(old one was 500GPH) and darned if the new one is not doing the same thing. This started a few months back and I thought maybe the pump was bad but now I am stumped. It is thru transom mount and should work fine, but no dice. I won't be using it in Florida so I will tackle it when I get back.
Any ideas??
